Design
Each Gradient roofing scheme is essentially a bespoke solution designed to reduce waste from the start. Boards are set out from the roof’s high points, with half-boards and infills incorporated where appropriate. As a result, square cutting is usually only required on the thinnest boards and the volume of any off-cuts is minimised. Rectangular roofs can be designed with square cuts to two of the sides and the boards then supplied net to the nearest full board to allow for last board cutting. Gutters and channels can be included to make up any small infills as required.
Features
Over the last 15 years Gradient has pioneered the use of factory pre-cut 45° mitres. These greatly speed up the setting out process by avoiding on-site cutting. This also reduces the amount of site waste that needs to be disposed of. Non-standard mitres can also be provided subject to prior agreement. Any cutting is done in our factory and any site waste is once again minimised.
Where boards must be site cut they can be pre-marked on layout drawings, with a note provided of the roof area, the area of board supplied and the likely volume of off-cuts.
Communication
We establish clear communication between ourselves and the roofing contractor so that they fully understand the scheme design and are able to set it out correctly. This ensures that the insulation is laid from the highest point, which both prevents ponding and minimises the thickness of any off-cuts which need to be removed.
We also advise on the use of various waste reduction methods such as half-boards, flat gutters, infills and the re-use of large off-cuts.
Waste audits
If required, we can work with contractors to complete a waste audit which specifies the exact quantity of product supplied to site and the likely volume of waste that will need to be removed.
Packaging
Individual components of an order can be securely wrapped onto pallets, which can also be made up onto disposable skids for easy handling. Our unique packaging methods ensure that the insulation boards make up the smallest load possible which reduces transport requirements. Load can then be delivered on either flat-bed, curtain-sider or tail-lift vehicles. Deliveries can be phased to suit customer requirements.
Waste removal
Site waste can be loaded into 1m3 bags for removal via the supply chain.
